Knott’s Berry Farm Celebrates National Fried Chicken Day TODAY, Thursday, July 6th!
Did you know that in June 1934 Mrs. Cordelia Knott served her first infamous fried chicken dinner on her wedding china for 65 cents each on the very land that is now known as Knott’s Berry Farm?
To make ends meet during the Great Depression, Cordelia served these chicken dinners on her best wedding china, complete with salad rhubarb sauce, hot biscuits, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, and boysenberry pie with ice cream for dessert. Mrs. Knott’s fried chicken recipe has continued to be preserved through the years. After eighty-three years, the same fried chicken meal is still served at Knott’s Berry Farm, complete with the delectable sides. Guests from all over the world travel to Knott’s to indulge in the delectable and infamous meal at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Celebrate by visiting the historic restaurant on Thursday, July 6 and indulge in the scrumptious, crispy, golden meal that has created delightful memories for generations of families throughout the years.
